About Denise
About Denise Douglass D.Hyp Adv. MIAH Acc.
Denise Douglass is an experienced and advanced hypnoanalyst who has trained extensively within the IAPH, to the point where she now holds Accredited status within the organisation, supervises fellow members and in 2008 was elected to its Council of Management.
At various times, she has run many successful hypnotherapy practices, during which time she has amassed thousands of client hours.
She is primarily an anxiety specialist treating, amongst other things, problems such as anxiety, panic attacks, social phobia (social anxiety disorder), and more general fears and phobias.
She began her clinical therapeutic career many years ago at the North Middlesex Hospital in North London, where she worked as a therapist for both the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Departments.
After leaving the NHS and taking a career break, she went on to train with the Hypnotherapy Control Board (reputedly Europe's largest hypnotherapy training school) in hypnoanalysis, hypnotherapy and psychotherapy.
After qualifying and whilst living in Warwickshire, she and her husband Paul Douglass, started in private practice, setting up Avon Hypnotherapy in the process, and so became a full-time hypnoanalyst and hypnotherapist.
The success of this venture was such that it was soon transferred and relocated to London's Harley Street - a centre for medical excellence. Here, demand for services became even greater and when other practices in nearby Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire opened, she could see more clients much more effectively.
Consultations these days take place exclusively in both the Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire practices.
Additionally, Denise is also a full member of the International Association of Pure Hypno-Analysts, whose membership is strictly by invitation only and she is bound by their comprehensive Code of Ethics, which not only ensures premium quality care, but also guarantees confidentiality for the client.
Members must also ensure they undertake the necessary level of Continuing Professional Development to ensure existing skills and techniques are frequently reviewed and updated. CPD takes the form of additional and advanced training in the areas of psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, hypnosis and other relevant fields. Accordingly, she has undertaken many training courses, including those dealing with the very sensitive nature of sexual abuse.
Additionally, she undergoes regular supervision which is also a key requirement for membership.
IAPH members must also have a Criminal Records Bureau check completed, as well as the usual Department of Health POCALS check, to help ensure absolute peace of mind for the client and these were completed.
She is consulted by television companies for advice and guidance on the use of hypnotherapy in a practice environment and the various problems treated. For further informatoin on this, please see the media and press page. Formerly, she was the author of a regular advice column syndicated in the Warwickshire local press.
For copies of recommendations and testimonials, please see the testimonials page.
